After graduating from Slippery Rock University, I migrated south to Hatteras Island from Pittsburgh, PA. It wasn’t an unusual destination since I have spent my summers here since I was a toddler. As I grew, I learned more about the history and recreation of the area through campground and park ranger programs. As a teenager, I began to work in retail, restaurants, and real estate – the three R’s that are crucial to the economy of the area. My internships in Resort Recreation Management helped me learn the importance of customer service. I lived the experience of buying, building, and managing real estate through my family’s investments in apartments and rental cottages here on Hatteras Island. I offer my experience and enthusiasm to my clients. | | | |
2008 Update... To begin, my husband, Chuck and I had a baby boy on February 1, 2007. We named him Charles Nash Gregory and he is our greatest gift. He scoots around the furniture and is taking his first steps. Nash loves to smile, laugh, and giggle. He loves music and books and is curious about everything in his world. Our dogs, Ruby, a Black Lab and Honey Bear, a Golden Retriever are so good with Nash. They are sure to be underfoot when Nash is feeding himself at the dinner table. Nash reminds us daily what is truly important in life. As far as 2007 in real estate goes, I am ranked number four on Hatteras Island in sales among single agents. It makes me very proud to have done well in a relaxed real estate market. It proves to me that being consistent and in tune with the market has supported my negotiating skills and interpersonal relationships with my colleagues here on Hatteras Island. Also, as part of my continuing education to serve you better as a realtor, I have attended Vision Quest in Greensboro, NC and completed my CRS designation which less than 4% of all licensed Realtors ® hold. For 2008, I am pleased to announce I have been elected to serve as the Treasurer of the Outer Banks Association of Realtors. I am looking forward to another exciting year of new opportunities.
If an island lifestyle is calling you…call, e-mail, or stop into the office. I’ll be expecting you. Wish you were here!

Here is a scenario for sellers to avoid. You contact a real estate agent to list your home and the agent suggests that you might get more for your house than comparable homes on the market. The agent assures you that it only takes finding one person who is willing to pay your price!
Some agents approach a listing appointment as if they are bidding for your home. The unfortunate result is that you start out with an unrealistic opinion of your home's value. There is often a strong temptation to work with a person who says what you want to hear. An experienced, reputable real estate agent will back up their opinion of your home's value with hard data. The agent should give you information about the listing price of homes that are currently on the market, and recent selling prices of similar properties in your immediate area.
Even the most heroic marketing efforts won't work on a property that is obviously overpriced, (except in the most exaggerated of seller's markets.) Even if you find a buyer who is willing to pay more than your home is worth, the sale could fall apart when the appraisal comes in lower than the agreed-upon price. Listen to everything, but be careful!
